VAE sends school leavers on six month teaching placements in poor rural
schools in the central highlands of Kenya. The aim is for the volunteer
to make a significant and lasting contribution to the school, and to broaden
his / her outlook by interacting with local people not as a tourist, nor
even as a traveller, but as a valued and respected member of the community
