Some great ideas for fundraising
Antony Khan Posted at 2006/07/11 20:46

I have done quite a few fundraising events to help fund my placement, all of which have made quite a bit towards my target. Here is a few which i done.?

1.(Sponsored Cycle)?I wrote letters to local supermarkets and shopping malls to request perission to perform a static cycle outside their store. The more letters you write the better.Make up a sponsorship for and get your family, friends and anyone else to sponsor you to do the cycle, say from 9:00-4:00pm non stop. (you can get fit friends to help take over when you are tired and need a break.Get a bucket placed directly infront of you and preferably get close to he front door. This generates alot of money,as ongas you do it with permission and advertise it loads. You may be able o borrow a turbo trainer from your local cycle shop as they are expensive to buy.

2.(Pub Quiz/ Karaoke) I performed this the same day as my cycle,Which is not advised as i couldnt sit down for a while lol. I borrowed speaker, mic, karaoke machine and got donations for prizes to give away from local bussineses that i wrote to. Make the start date at least an hour before you actually want to start,as people turn up in drips and drabs. I got my quiz quesions from books and the internet and called them out myself.(which was fun). After i had a karaoke Which everyone enjoys.Make sure you have raffle tickets as this made me alot of money also.

3.(race night) Now this is a big one. If you do this well you can make ?1000. Dont try and d this yourself as its too much hassle and hiring a company to do it is fast and they know how to draw in th cash from people. I used sporty racenights, which brought all the equipment and things you need. Important!! you have to advertise this well in advance in pubs, bus shelters anywhere as you need the bodies to make it a sucess.(something which i didnt do enough of) Get friends to help you out with taking the money and raffles and things. I had a decent night from mine and had a great ime too, though it could have been alot better if i had more people there. I sent moya some pictures from mine?which she may to show you what its like.

4. I made up a teddy bear sheet with 100 names on it and took it to the bear factory and picke an bear and asked te woman to pick the name of it and seal the certificate. I went round friends and family and got them to choose a name for ?1 a shot, whoever gueses the name wins the bear. Quite a fun one to do,Plus no one can resist the chance to win?a wee cute?bear! lol

Good luck people!!? Tony Khan

I also want to add if you work for Royal mail, which i do they can equal some of the money you raise to go to charity. Ask your line manager for details but do this as soon as possible as it can take up to eight weeks to process the money you raise.
