Paying Volunteer Fees & Making Donations to VolunteerAfrica

1. Making a Payment / Donation Yourself

Volunteer donations / payments can be made using Debit or Credit Cards and can based on Pounds Sterling, US Dollars, Euros, Canadian Dollars, Australian Dollars or New Zealand Dollars. Debit card payments are preferred as the processing fee is less than 1 US Dollar, whereas the fees for credit cards are up to 3.5% of the amount you pay/donate.

If you card is based on another currency (i.e. Hong Kong Dollars) the amount charged to your account will depend on the exchange rate for the currency that you select, on the day the payment is made.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE - When using the online payment system DO NOT use the Back Button or Refresh - as this can result in a second payment being taken.

To make a payment/donation please log into your account and go to the "Payments" page.

2. Making a donation on behalf of a volunteer

If you are making a payment / donation on behalf of a volunteer you can use our on-line donation facility, managed on our behalf by the Charities Aid Foundation.

Donations can be made using Debit or Credit Cards and can based on Pounds Sterling, US Dollars or Euros. Debit card payments are preferred as the processing fee is less than 1 US Dollar, whereas the fees for credit cards are up to 6% of the amount you pay/donate.

If your card is based on another currency (i.e. Canadian or Australian Dollars the amount charged to your account will depend on the exchange rate for the currency that you select, on the day the payment is made).

UK Tax payers who make a donation on behalf of a volunteer can "Gift-Aid" their donation. This allows VolunteerAfrica to recover the tax that you have paid on this money (£22 for every £78 donated). Tax recovered in this way is used to help further the projects of our partners in Tanzania.

Volunteers are requested not to "GIFT AID" their donations through the CAF system (we are currently seeking clarification from the Inland Revenue as to the proportion that volunteer fee that can be "gift aided"). Donations made by people, who are UK Tax payers, and who are not volunteers can still be "gift aided" in full.
